Household scrap is welcome at our Nantwich yard any time we are open. Drive in, we'll help you work out what you have, weigh it on approved scales and pay you for it.
What households usually bring us
Copper pipe and hot water tanks, old radiators, cast iron baths and fireplaces, aluminium ladders and window frames, garden tools, lawnmowers, bicycles, washing machines and cookers, lead flashing, brass fittings and taps, electrical cable, car batteries and general steel from sheds and garages.
How the visit works
Turn in off Windy Arbour at Alvaston Business Park and follow the signs to the weighbridge. A member of staff will point you where to unload, tell you which grades you have, and weigh the metal. You are then paid for the load. Bring photo ID with you — scrap metal legislation means we have to record who we buy from, and we cannot pay in cash.
Getting the most for your load
Separating metals before you arrive genuinely pays. Keeping clean copper away from brass fittings, and aluminium away from steel, means each grade is paid at its own rate rather than as mixed scrap. If a piece looks like it might be stainless or an unusual alloy, leave it to one side and ask — our metal analyser can settle it.
Please stay safe on site
This is a working yard with heavy machinery moving throughout the day. Wear suitable clothing and stout footwear, keep children in the vehicle, and follow staff instructions at all times.

Good to know
Domestic scrap metal — questions we get asked
Do I need to book before bringing scrap in?
No. Domestic customers are welcome to turn up during opening hours — Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 12:30pm. We are at Windy Arbour, Alvaston Business Park, Nantwich, Cheshire CW5 6PF.
Do I need to bring ID?
Yes. Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 we have to record the identity of everyone who sells us scrap metal, so please bring photo ID such as a driving licence or passport, along with proof of your address.
Do you pay cash?
No — the law does not allow scrap metal dealers in England and Wales to pay cash. We pay by bank transfer, so bring your bank details with you.
How is my scrap weighed?
Everything is weighed on site on approved scales and sorted by grade, so you can see exactly what you have brought in and what it is being paid as.
Do you take fridges, gas bottles or anything hazardous?
Some items need special handling and some we cannot take at all. Please ring the yard on 01270 611447 before you load up so we can tell you what is possible.
Not sure what your scrap is worth?
Prices move daily. Give us a ring and we'll tell you what we're paying today — no obligation, no nonsense.
