Drive in and weigh in

Weighbridge & drive-in

Turn up during opening hours with anything from a boot full of copper to a lorry of steel. We weigh it, grade it and pay it — no appointment and no minimum load.

We are on Windy Arbour at Alvaston Business Park, just off the A529 on the edge of Nantwich, with room for cars, vans, trailers and lorries.

What to bring

Photo ID such as a driving licence or passport, proof of your address, and your bank details. We are required by the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 to record who we buy from, and payment has to be by bank transfer — cash is not permitted for scrap metal in England and Wales.

How the visit works

Pull in, tell whoever meets you what you have, and you will be directed to the right part of the yard. Loads are weighed on approved scales and sorted by grade so you can see exactly what has been paid as what. If your load is heavy or awkward, we will help you unload it — please do not struggle on your own.

Where and when

Windy Arbour, Alvaston Business Park, Nantwich, Cheshire CW5 6PF. Opening hours are monday – friday 8:00am – 5:00pm, saturday 9:00am – 12:30pm, sunday Closed. Ring 01270 611447 if you are running late or unsure whether we can take something.

Safety in the yard

It is a working yard with moving plant. Please stay with your vehicle until someone directs you, keep children in the car, wear sensible footwear and follow whatever you are asked to do by our staff. Our site safety page sets out the rules in full.

Too much to move yourself?

If the load is too big for a trailer or you have no way of shifting it, we collect as well — see collections or ring the yard and we will tell you what makes sense.

    Tell us what you have

Ring the yard on 01270 611447 or send the details through the form — a photo helps us judge it quickly.

  2. 02

    We quote you honestly

We tell you what we are paying today for that grade, and whether it is worth us collecting or better brought in.

  3. 03

    Collection or drop-off

We collect with our own lorries and grab loaders, or you turn up in opening hours and we help you unload.

  4. 04

    Weighed, graded and paid

Your load is weighed on approved scales and paid straight into your bank — no cash, as the law requires.

Good to know

Weighbridge & drive-in — questions we get asked

Do I need to book before bringing scrap in?

No. Domestic customers are welcome to turn up during opening hours — Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 12:30pm. We are at Windy Arbour, Alvaston Business Park, Nantwich, Cheshire CW5 6PF.

Do I need to bring ID?

Yes. Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 we have to record the identity of everyone who sells us scrap metal, so please bring photo ID such as a driving licence or passport, along with proof of your address.

Do you pay cash?

No — the law does not allow scrap metal dealers in England and Wales to pay cash. We pay by bank transfer, so bring your bank details with you.

How is my scrap weighed?

Everything is weighed on site on approved scales and sorted by grade, so you can see exactly what you have brought in and what it is being paid as.

Do you take fridges, gas bottles or anything hazardous?

Some items need special handling and some we cannot take at all. Please ring the yard on 01270 611447 before you load up so we can tell you what is possible.

Not sure what your scrap is worth?

Prices move daily. Give us a ring and we'll tell you what we're paying today — no obligation, no nonsense.
