Nearly every farm we visit around Nantwich has the same corner: a hedge line of dead implements, a stack of sheet, drums, wire and a trailer chassis that has not moved in a decade. Cleared properly it is worth money, it frees up space and it takes a hazard off the yard.
What we take off farms
- Redundant implements, ploughs, harrows, toppers and trailers
- Corrugated and box-profile steel sheet
- Fencing wire, gates, hurdles, troughs and feed barriers
- Old milking and dairy parlour equipment, including stainless steel
- Copper and cable from rewiring work
- Grain and water tanks, and steel-framed building sections
Things that need a word first
Fuel and oil tanks must be empty and clean. Chemical drums, pesticide containers, tyres, batteries and gas bottles are handled differently and may not be accepted as they are. Asbestos cement sheet is not scrap metal and needs a licensed asbestos contractor — do not put it on a metal load.

Sort where you can
Keeping stainless dairy fittings, copper and cable away from the general steel pile is the single best-paid hour of the job. Sheet stacked flat loads far better than sheet thrown in a heap, and a bin of clean metal grades better than a bin with fence posts and silage plastic in it.
Access and timing
We need to know what the gateway and track will take, whether there is hardstanding to stand on, and whether a grab lorry can get to the pile or whether the metal needs bringing to a hard yard first. Late summer after harvest and quiet spells in winter are the easiest times to book.
